The Upsilon Rho Omega Chapter has been serving the City of Overland Park and surrounding areas since 1997 through various community service and educational activities. Our programs focus on healthcare and wellness, economic access and mobility, and college access, addressing the most pressing issues in our community. As a part of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated ®, Upsilon Rho Omega has consistently emphasized the importance and impact of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Over the years, our scholarships have supported many young individuals in pursuing a college degree and later becoming leaders in their communities.

 

We are proud to invest in our next generation of leaders through our college scholarships. In the more than twenty years of our service, we have awarded over $100,000 in scholarships to high school graduates in the Kansas City metropolitan area.

 

​​Jordan Leigh Thomas Leadership and Innovation Scholarship

To be considered for this financial need-based scholarship, applicants must be high school seniors in the Kansas City metropolitan area who plan to enroll in a four-year college, university, or community college in the fall semester immediately following graduation. Candidates should also have a proven record of exceptional leadership and innovation throughout their high school years. Recipients will be selected based on demonstrated financial need, outstanding leadership, and evidence of innovation, as shown through the application materials and a required essay describing the financial challenges that make this scholarship essential.

 

Application Requirements

To be eligible, applicants must be high school seniors from the Kansas City metropolitan area who plan to attend a four-year college or university in the fall immediately following graduation.
